In January 2024, Croatian conductor Andrej Vesel assumed the Permanent Conductor title for the Oradea State Philharmonics in Romania, following a successful debut with the orchestra in Autumn 2023. Vesel is also one of the recurring conductors for the Vienna Mozart Orchestra.

In the 2024/25, he will make his debut with the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna.

As a guest conductor, Andrej Vesel has worked with the Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra (Barenboim-Said for Music Foundation in Ramallah, Palestine), Bad Reichenhall Philharmonics, Braşov State Philharmonics, Slovenian Radio Symphony-Orchestra since 2022, Dinu Lipatti Satu Mare State Philharmonics and Sibiu State Philharmonics.

Also active in the opera field, Vesel served as study director at the Burg Gars Opera (Die Zauberföte) in 2017 and musical assistant for jOPERA at Schloss Tabor (Barbiere di Siviglia) in 2018, as well as at Kulturglashaus (Im weißen Rössl) in 2022.

He participated in masterclasses with Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Alexander Vedernikov, Marin Alsop, Riccardo Chailly, Christian Ehwald, Peter Eötvös, Uroš Lajovic, Andres Orozco-Estrada, Nicolas Pasquet, Ulrich Windfuhr and Daniel Oren, among others.

Vesel first studied Piano with Vladimir Krpan at the Music Academy in Zagreb, graduating in 2015. He then started his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna: Orchestral Conducting with Johannes Wildner, Choral Conducting with Alois Glaßner, and Opera Correpetition with Andreas Henning. Graduating from his studies with distincition, Vesel also conducted the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra in Musikverein Wien in Summer 2022. In 2019/20 Vesel also spent a year as an Erasmus student at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milano with Vittorio Parisi.

In 2017, Andrej Vesel started his own orchestra - Ton der Jugend Symphonieorchester Wien, with the pianist Ioan-Dragoş Dimitriu. Since then, the orchestra has performed in Wiener Konzerthaus multiple times, as well as in Musikverein Wien and MuTh.

From September 2022 to January 2024, Vesel was a scholar of the Hans Swarowsky Akademie - a comprehensive programme for postgraduate students under the guidance of Manfred Huss.

He has been supported by the Student Body of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Ernst von Siemens Private Foundation, Czibulka Foundation, Lovro von Matačić Foundation, and the Richard Wagner Scholarship for the Bayreuth Festival. In 2023 he was also awarded with the Croatian Homeland Award Večernjakova domovnica in the music category for his outstanding contribution representing Croatian music abroad.
